As we continue our series reflecting on the story of David this Sunday evening, we come to the most well-known story of his life, his clash with Goliath. Behind this physical battle is a spiritual one, and David is seen in the role of the Lord’s warrior who defeats the foe tormenting God’s people. The Lord gives David the strength he needs to defeat the enemy, and David trusts the Lord’s power for victory. In this story, we see not only David’s continued rise to power, but also the Lord pointing the way to the ultimate salvation he will bring about for his people in Jesus. We also see the way of faith we are called to walk upon in our lives.
