This Sunday morning, we continue our series connecting with the imagery of clothing or being clothed in Scripture by going to the story of Joseph, and the famous robe Jacob gave to him. While this coat might have been a dream for Joseph to receive and wear, in the story we see the problems in the family the coat highlights. There is favoritism and jealousy in our human relationships, and clothing often plays a role in this. While this story again highlights our often misplaced desire to try and clothe ourselves with status, it also reminds us that when we are clothed in God’s character, he can work his good plan with us and through us.
