Tired + Weary

Written by Pastor Eric Everhart

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Psalm 62: 5-8

With everything going on in the world today, worry and uncertainty fill our minds so very often. It is so easy to feel exhausted and tired from the daily barrage of “stuff.” Maybe you can’t sleep; you stay up thinking about everything going on, or maybe you’re mourning the loss of what is “normal.” How does this Psalm speak to you about the rest we need and where it comes from? Do you take time to be still and rest in Jesus?

We feel weak, tired, and downright exhausted. Sometimes we wonder if it’s ever going to get better. What about hope–how does the promise of your salvation give you strength and hope to keep you going each day?

In the midst of controversy, it’s sometimes hard to know what to believe and who to trust. So many lies and half truths, my head is spinning! Where do you place your trust? Where do you find your truth? What or who holds your future?

Jesus is King and he sits on the one true throne. It’s in his power, his authority, his truth, his  promises, and in his mercy that you should find peace!

Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love.” Psalm 62:12

Father God, thank you for your goodness and for providing for us. Thank you for pouring out your blessings into our lives–rest, friends, family, church, and your word. I pray that we continue to be reminded to put our complete trust in you. Even when things seem to be crazy, out of control, and unpredictable, I pray that we remember your great and unfailing love for us.  Let us trust you completely, God, in all things–you who sent your Son to rescue us. Thank you for your unconditional love and the peace that is found in your promises! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
