This Sunday morning we conclude our second advent series by going to Revelation 5, and the scene around the throne of God described there. In the hands of God is a scroll which contains the purpose and end of God’s redemptive history. This scroll awaits opening so the plan can be carried out, but who is worthy of opening it? In all of heaven and earth there is only one who is worthy, and that is the Lion and the Lamb, Jesus Christ. As we wait for Jesus’ return this reminds us that there is no one else like Jesus. He alone is worthy of our worship, because he alone has shed his blood to give us life.
