This Sunday evening we continue our series in 1 John, reflecting on this passage in which John begins to focus on the virtue of love. We know what love is because we’ve seen it and experienced it in the work of Jesus. When the life of God resides in us, his love will also flow from us. To love as God loves is costly and not always received with favor, however it is the way of life, because it is the way of God. To love this way we need to address the hatred that might still be residing in our hearts, and we need to be intentional about practicing God’s love, especially within the community of believers.
