This Sunday evening we continue our journey through 1 John by reflecting on the opening verses of chapter 5. John reminds us here that if we have been born of God we overcome the world, and that overcoming flows from our faith in who Jesus is and what he has done. John points out that this testimony about Jesus is first and foremost from God himself, and as we receive and echo this testimony about Jesus, we too are given the victory of eternal life.
