This Sunday evening we continue our series in the book of Daniel by reflecting on chapter 9. This chapter is a bit different from those surrounding it, in that it mostly is made up of a prayer of Daniel in response to God’s Word. After this time of prayer, the Lord responds by sending his angel to the prophet with a word of revelation. As Daniel offers up a prayer of confession and repentance, we are reminded of the importance of this rhythm in the life of God’s people. The brokenness and struggles of life in this world are connected with our sins as human beings both individually and collectively. As we acknowledge this and seek to turn to the Lord, this chapter also reminds us that the Lord brings about the deliverance we are longing for from our bondage to sin.
