This Sunday evening we spend some time reflecting on Genesis 26, really the only chapter in Genesis which focuses on Isaac. A major theme of this chapter is God’s blessing, which he has promised to pour out on Isaac and his family, and through this family to the ends of the earth. A significant picture of this in the story is when Isaac and his companions seek to unstop the wells which had been stopped up by others. To let the water, and the blessing that comes with it, flow again. This is a beautiful picture of what God brings into our lives through Christ, and of our mission as God’s people. As we receive God’s blessing, how can we be unstopping some of the wells that exist around us?
