As we continue our series reflecting on the statements of faith in the Nicene Creed, we now come to heart of the creed which speaks of the nature of Jesus. Who is Jesus? Passages like John 1 reveal to us that Jesus is both fully man and fully God. He is the Son of God, but is also eternal, without beginning and without end. This was the major point of conversation during the Council of Nicaea, and it is still of great importance today. Only if Jesus is all that Scripture professes him to be is he able to save us. The wonderful good news is that the eternal Son of God has indeed come down from heaven and taken on our flesh, and so is able to bring us salvation.
