This Sunday evening we continue our series in Daniel by considering chapter 5. This chapter is famous for the scene of the hand writing some mysterious words on the wall during a party put on by King Belshazzar of Babylon. But what is the point of all this? As God’s judgment comes upon Belshazzar and the kingdom of Babylon, it is a reminder that God sees all things and will eventually deal justly with all that is evil and opposed to him. As God’s people, this reality should drive us even more in faith and awe to the work of Jesus Christ, for without his work, that would be our end as well. This story also is meant to give hope to God’s people as we deal with different struggles and powers opposed to the Lord. We can know that the Lord sees all of this and will make all things right in his time.
