As we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day, we reflect on the wonder that this marks the coming of God to us in a new and most powerful way. Having God with us means having his life and blessing upon us, which is always what God’s people have longed for. Jesus is called Immanuel, because he is God with us as never before, he has taken on our humanity along with his divinity. As a result, we can now live in fellowship with God each day, even as we look forward to being with him in even greater fashion for all eternity. O Come, O Come, Immanuel!
