This Sunday morning we begin a new series connecting with the Nicene Creed. It was 1700 years ago that the church of that time got together and worked on crafting a statement about the essentials of our beliefs about God and the salvation he has made known in Christ. This creed is one that is accepted across the full spectrum of the Church, and is a good reminder of the need to continue to pass down our faith from generation to generation. In 2 Timothy 2, this is precisely what Paul is urging Timothy to do, to continue to pass along the faith to the next generation. This is our calling as well, and as we think about how we can go about doing that, it is helpful to have statements like the Nicene Creed which we can use to pass down our faith to those coming after us.
