Giving It All You Got

Written by Pastor Eric Everhart

While spending time with my kiddos at a local waterpark,  I took notice of a little boy who was in the “kiddy” section of the pool. He was about 5 or 6 and there was something wrong with his legs that didn’t allow him to walk. Alongside his 2 older brothers though, the little guy didn’t miss a beat. I watched as he scooted around in the water like it was nothing. It wasn’t until he got to the rope ladder that he caught my eye.

Climbing that rope ladder was so tough for him. He pulled himself up with such strength and determination. His brothers tried to help but he told them to go away. It was almost agonizing for me to sit and watch; I wanted to get up and help him. This little guy didn’t give up though–he pulled and pulled, dragging his lifeless legs behind him, and finally he reached the top! The look on his face was priceless. He didn’t waste any time as he pulled himself along, dragging his legs behind once again and holding himself up on the bars. Again, with amazing grit and determination, he made his way over to the water slide. He shouted with glee all the way to the bottom, and entered the water with a huge splash at the end! He pulled himself out of the water and did it all over again for more than an hour. He was giving it his very best, he wasn’t giving up, and his reward was amazing!

What if we saw our faith journey this way? What if, realizing the amazing reward that was coming, we put everything we had into our faith walk? No giving up, no feeling sorry for ourselves, and not letting anyone or anything stand in the way!! God wants our very best–no, in fact, he calls us to be perfect: “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) And although we can’t do that on our own, God has given us Jesus!! And through his amazing sacrifice, we are washed clean, made perfect, and made righteous before our Father in Heaven!

That’s the splash at the end of the water slide of life…a restored relationship with God the Father for all eternity! Are you willing to give him your all? No whining, always trusting, and always believing that he is with you as you drag your faith legs behind you on this journey of life?

CHRIST GAVE US HIS ALL……ALL THE WAY TO THE CROSS! WILL YOU DO THE SAME FOR HIM?

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
