This Sunday evening we continue our series in 2 Corinthians, taking up the first chunk of the letter in which comfort is clearly a major theme. Paul has learned more of God’s comfort in the face of some severe trials he has faced before writing this letter, and wants to assure the church of the comfort they have in Christ as well. This comfort is experienced as we rely on God and the deliverance he provides. The troubles and sufferings of this world are very real, but ultimately God promises to deliver us from all of them, and to bring us into his everlasting comfort and peace.
