This Sunday evening we reflect on another text which describes Jesus casting out a demon that was afflicting someone. This story is a bit different, in that instead of the demon speaking through this man it has caused him to be unable to speak. As Jesus frees this man, he is able to speak again, and has a testimony to share with his words. The theme of speaking and testimony continues in the story, as the crowd and the Pharisees speak about what they are seeing Jesus do. Jesus’ life-giving power frees us to worship him and testify to his goodness again. What are we using our voices for?
