This Sunday morning we will reflect on the story of Jesus healing a man by a pool in Jerusalem. This man has been suffering for nearly four decades, so his need for physical healing is obvious. However, as Jesus talks with this man, it is clear that he also needs some emotional and spiritual healing. As the religious leaders respond to what Jesus has done, it is clear that their way of looking at things also needs healing. This story is a reminder of Jesus’ power to bring healing to us, and of the need all of us have of his healing touch. Will we allow Jesus’ word to bring healing to even the deepest part of our lives, or will we resist him?
