Proverbs Challenge Part 2
by Our Students
The students and leadership of our High School ministry have taken on the challenge of reading through the book of Proverbs. They have been asked to read 3 chapters a month and reflect on one verse from each chapter that stuck out to them and why. We hope to help promote a healthy routine of reading scripture and engaging with it so that they can apply it to their daily lives.
The month of October was devoted to reading through Proverbs chapters 4-6. We would love it if you joined with us as we absorb the wisdom of God’s Word. Here are some of the responses we received for the month of October.
Proverbs 5:22
This verse speaks about being trapped in sin and our own evil acts. Sin is very hard to escape. It feels like freedom until you try and stop doing it. We need to consume the word of God and think of it when we encounter situations where we might sin. Fighting sin on our own doesn’t work either. We need God to help us.
Proverbs 4:4
This spoke to me about how God’s words are what I need to listen to, and not anyone else’s. I need to keep His words in my heart forever and be constantly listening to what He says.
Proverbs 6:12-15
No matter how sneaky and sly we are, no matter how much deceit we have, God knows what is going on and will expose us. We will also pay the consequences.
Proverbs 6:8
These verses warn us against the snare of adultery. It is not worth the pain it brings in the end. A disciplined man (woman) in wisdom is far wealthier than the undisciplined man of adultery.
Proverbs 5:7
This verse tells me that I need to follow what the Lord says. I should not turn away from His word but follow it!
Proverbs 4:5-6
I chose this verse because it shows me that to get wisdom we need to look to God and not turn away from Him. It also shows me that God will protect me in everything that I am doing.
Proverbs 4:10
This verse tells me that if you listen and accept what God says, you will have a good life.
Proverbs 5:8
This verse encourages us to walk away from our temptations and sin. Both verse 21-23 tells us that Jesus holds our future so He knows what is to come. If we don’t follow Jesus we will be led astray and will die.
Proverbs 6:15
We sometimes don’t realize how close Satan has gotten to us. When he has his way and gets full control he doesn’t just destroy the body but the soul too.
Praise God for his word, his wisdom, and the knowledge that comes from his special revelation so that we can live our lives unto him!
