Lead Me, Guide Me Along the Way
This weekend I had to buy a new BBQ grill so off to the store I went. There were all shapes and sizes but I finally picked one out. When I got home I opened up the box and to my surprise, there were a thousand pieces and parts that had to be put together. But I wasn’t going to let that intimidate me, I got this! So with my handy dandy tool bag I began the process of putting my grill together. After about 2 hours of frustration, I was ready to pull my hair out!! After 2 hours of working, I wasn’t any closer to being finished than when I began… Argggggg!! Finally, one of my girls came over to me and said,
“Dad, why don’t you use these instructions that came with the grill?” What, how dare you assume I need instructions to do this!! But, boy was she right. With the right set of instructions in hand, my grill was together and I was cooking burgers!
What about our faith walks? Especially as Pastor Dan talks about being disciples who share the Good News with the world. How do we do that? What is a disciple? What does God expect from you as you try to live your life out as an example to others? God knew what he was doing when He gave us His Word, the Bible. He knew that there would be things we couldn’t figure out for ourselves and that we would need some sort of instructions. God gave us His Word so that we could come to know who Jesus is, so that we could follow His example on how to live our lives.
As we are called to make new disciples and to grow into mature Christ followers, we have to be willing to pick up the instruction manual to guide and direct us. We must humble ourselves and realize that without God’s instructional manual, there is no way we will be able to live out the life God has called us to live. If you try, you will find yourself frustrated and feeling defeated! God’s Word reveals to us His Son Jesus, His Work, and shows us the example to follow as we live our lives for Him! Have you opened up your mind and heart to God’s Word?

WORD, COME TO KNOW WHO JESUS IS AND LET THE MASTER GUIDE YOU AS YOU LIVE FOR HIM.
