A Word of Thanks
by Pastor E
This past week our high school ministry had the awesome opportunity to visit with the soldiers of the 160th SOAR in Ft. Campbell Kentucky. The high school seniors, their leaders, and a few other members of the church spent a full day visiting the base. We saw first hand some of the training the soldiers experience on a daily basis, learned some of their history, got to sit in the cockpit of a Blackhawk helicopter, eat an MRE for lunch, and stood on the flight line as the attack helicopters landed and took off.
All of this was part of the amazing opportunity to deliver 257 Christmas boxes to this Special Operation unit. These Christmas boxes, which our church family provided, will find their way to the soldiers who are deployed around the world and away from family at Christmas. This was a great learning opportunity for our group, a unique time of service, and a special time with our high school seniors who will be graduating soon.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ came into this world as a very small package, a package that brought salvation, hope, peace, and joy! These Christmas boxes which will be sent to soldiers serving our country during the holidays may also be just a small package, but they will bring a GREAT deal of joy, encouragement, and love! BIG things do come in small packages!!!
The Command Group of the 160th SOAR is truly thankful for this relationship with Friendship and have relayed the following message:
On behalf of the Command Group, the Regimental Chaplain, and the soldiers of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, we send our thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the family of Friendship Church in Michigan. We send our thanks for the continued support of our men and women in uniform, especially those who serve in the 160th SOAR. Your support and love, through the many Christmas packages you have delivered, is greatly appreciated and an encouragement to our soldiers who are away from their families during seasons such as these. We value the relationship we have with your church family and look forward to the visit of your young people each year.
God bless you all richly this Christmas season and may we all be reminded of the hope, peace, and joy that comes from our savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you and God Bless America,
160th SOAR Command Group
