Be the Solution

We live in a world today that seems to be at odds with itself. There is strife and unrest across the globe, causing hate and chaos. Globally, there are countries threatening one another with the tension of war in the air. Here in the United States we are bombarded with news of racism, hate crimes, governmental breakdowns, mass shootings, and political battles. In our homes, there are broken families, divorces, addictions, and even abuse. Even within the church, there are splits over carpet colors, corruption, greed, and unforgiveness among the community of believers.

The sin of mankind is easily seen in the problems listed above and because of these issues the world is divided, the United States is in a heated battle with itself, our families are being torn apart, and the church is finding itself in conflict with its own brothers and sisters. Unrest, chaos,
divisiveness, and hate…is this what God wants for his children?

The answer to that question is “NO”! This is not what God had in mind for his people. But as Christ followers, WHAT CAN WE DO? The problems seem so big and above anything we can handle. I can hear some of you saying now, “But God’s got this, he is in control, don’t worry.” Although these statements are true in and of themselves, God calls each of us, his followers, to do everything we can to bring about peace and unity in our homes, in our church, in our country, and around the world. We are, in a sense, not supposed to be part of the problem but rather righteous carries of the solution through Jesus Christ. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Eph 4:3 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live in peace with everyone.” Rom 12:18

In 1Peter 3:8, God gives us direction on how we should be peacemakers and encouragers of unity. “Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be
compassionate, and be humble.” God has given his children detailed instructions for how each of us can bring about unity and peace in this divided world. Although God will have the final word in the end, we have been called to be workers of peace. Although this is not an easy
calling–and yes, we will fail at times–with Christ as our strength, peace and unity among all creation will prevail.

ARE YOU AN AMBASSADOR OF GOD’S PEACE AND UNITY OR DO YOU FIND YOURSELF AMONG THE DIVIDED?
