A Word From Pastor Tim
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow…Instead, you ought to say, “if it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
We praise God for his promise to provide when our usual sources appear uncertain. How much more relevant Jesus’ words seem today, “Do not worry, saying, ‘What will eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?”…for the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33)
A few thoughts about congregational care during our enforced absence from each other:
- Counseling: If you or a loved one needs talking to a counselor, remember our CAP (Church Assistance Program) partnership with Pine Rest entitles each member to 3 free sessions with a counselor free of charge. To make an appointment, call 616-455-6210 and tell them you are a CAP member at Friendship CRC. All meetings currently will be done via “telehealth” video or audio calls.
- Communications: All the shutdowns and closings has upended many of our usual channels of communication. Please pray for our church staff as they try to create different channels for communicating with everyone through a variety of methods. If you feel you’re missing some church news, please reach out to one of the pastors, staff, or your district elder/deacon. If you know of someone who may not have email or internet connection, please reach out to them to ensure they are informed. Thank you for taking the initiative to love your neighbor and look out for them!
May we, Christ’s body, rise to this challenge with Spirit-given confidence.
